NORWAY: RAHMAN'S STORY
Worn out, but happy, he crawled from the back of a lorry in the middle of the night into the centre of Oslo, seven days after his flight from Istanbul had begun. 17 year old Rahman from Kurdistan, Iran was finally in Norway.
Safe from fear of injustice and police harassment. In the rich Northern country where his dreams would come true. Some weeks later Rahman was sent north to an asylum centre at Nesna in Nordland where the young man awaited a reply.
Would he be allowed to stay in Norway? In May 2009 the letter arrived: "Your appeal against the rejection of your asylum application in Norway has been considered by the Norwegian Immigration Appeals Board. The appeal was unfortunately turned down.” Desperate and afraid, Rahman saw no other possibility than to go underground and hide.
